The following video is a viewport animation of the Etherion Dragon Rig’s first flight cycle in Maya.

I started this project from drawings and illustrations, then I created a low poly mesh in Autodesk Maya of a dragon I was inspired to make for my portfolio.
I then took this mesh, subdivided it into several levels, sculpted texture, and painted over the sculpt using ZBrush and Substance Painter.
What we see here is the base mesh animated before rendering. It is rigged with the help of Advanced Skeleton and given gravity simulation through Ragdoll Dynamics.
Next, we will use this information as one of many animation assets for the character in Unreal Engine 5.
